Publishing to Blogs

Share your help and tutorials with your user and get their feedback

Publishing your help to a blog is a really great way of interacting with your users because they can add their feedback via the blog commenting features. This is great for starting conversations with your users.

Configure the blog account to publish to

You need to tell HelpBurner how to connect to your blog. Open the topic you wish to publish, click the publish button and in the publishing window make sure you select this topic (1) in the what to publish menu and blog (2) in the format menu.

To configure your blog account click the Accounts button (3 above).

Click the add button (1) to create a new blog publishing account. Enter a name (2) (can be anything) and the web address (3) and your user-name and password (4) used to login.

NOTE: The Web Address is the address of your MetaWebLog API end-point. For self-hosted WordPress installations this is normally http://your-blog-address/blog/xmlprc.php (see http://codex.wordpress.org/XML-RPC_Support for details on finding your WordPress web-address).

Check the details are correct

Click the check login button (5 above) to ensure your login details are correct and that HelpBurner can connect. If everything is correct, you can click the done button to finish.

Select the blog category

Back in the publish window, select the blog you just configured in the drop-down menu and HelpBurner will then load all the category names from the blog.

Select the blog category you want to publish to from the drop-down menu and click the publish button to publish.

Note: Drupal users - if you are publishing to Drupal then in a lot of cases the category drop-down will be empty because categories are not added in Drupal by default.  This is not a problem, just proceed with nothing selected in the category drop-down.
